On November 12, 2023, Jeffrey Allen Riess sadly passed from this earth, leaving behind family and so many friends that loved and will miss him dearly. The pain of his loss is only comforted by knowing he is at peace with his Lord and Savior.
Born August 14, 1984 in Oklahoma City, Jeff was a loving father, son, brother, nephew, grandson and friend. Jeff’s greatest loves in his life were his 2 children, Annabelle and Andrew. As a proud and devoted father, he loved going on adventures and outings with his kids. Together, they enjoyed camping trips, roasting marshmallows for s’mores, Monster Jam, arcades, rock climbing, and Dodgers baseball games. He loved attending all of their extra-curricular activities, including Cheer competitions, dance recitals, soccer and t-ball games. Jeff truly delighted in his children and found such joy in his role as their father. He cherished every bit of time with them and would have done anything to see smiles on their faces.
Jeff enjoyed rock climbing, snowboarding, fishing, hunting, water sports, and anything outdoors. He loved camping and had recently started backpacking; taking trips to New Mexico and Colorado with his dog and loyal companion, Remi. He loved music and enjoyed seeing many of his favorite artists in concert. He had a great sense of humor and was often one to tease or pull off a harmless practical joke. His nieces and nephews adored his playfulness and special attention he was always so willing to give. His laughter was contagious and his smile would instantly light up the room.
Jeff’s kind, loving heart often inspired him to offer his time and lend a hand to others. The family has been blessed with stories from those that knew him of how he helped to support and guide them during difficult moments. His enjoyment of service to others was seen throughout his life and was where he often found satisfaction in his work and everyday life.
Jeff has been welcomed into heaven by grandparents Jesse and Dorothy Davis, and his great-grandmother Thelma Riess. Jeff is survived by his two children, Annabelle Rose Riess and Andrew Paul Riess; his parents Paul and Barbara Riess; sister Jennifer Sorrels, her husband Chris and three children Emerson, Easton and Everly; sister Jessica Eckert, her husband Tyler and three children Ivy, Oliver and Milo; grandparents Donald and Donna Riess; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
A memorial service for Jeff will be held at 10:00 AM on December 18, 2023 at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 4400 N Shartel Ave, Oklahoma City, OK, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Anna and Andrew’s 529 College funds. In his absence, Jeff would love knowing that others were investing in his children’s future. For those interested, the link and UGift codes are provided below.
