Gene was born in Seminole, OK to Frank and LeMoine Corner on July 31, 1939, and moved to Albuquerque, NM at the age of six. He graduated from Highland High School and received a BA in Bible from Abilene Christian College, where he met and married Judith Kay Jeffers on December 15, 1961. After college, he took a job at Sears & Roebuck at Shepherd Mall in Oklahoma City where he worked in the appliances department and then became the sales manager for the catalogue department. He was promoted to the store manager in El Reno, and later in Edmond. When he retired, he was the manager of the catalogue department at Quail Springs Mall. Gene also worked for Office Depot for several years after retiring from Sears.
Gene is survived by his three daughters, Debbie& husband John Anders of Stillwater, OK, Angie& husband Richard Dodgen of Edmond, OK, and Gena & husband Brett Wools of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, and his sister Judy & husband Doyce Nance of Richardson, TX as well as six grandchildren, two bonus grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a lengthy list of nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by the mother of his children, his parents, a niece,and a nephew.
Gene was best known for his love of singing. He sang bass in the gospel quartet The Good News, as well as with the OK Chorale and Music Central Barbershop chorus.
