CAROL SLAUGHTER Obituary
Carol Sue “Susy” Slaughter, 76, of Mtn. View, Oklahoma, completed her ministry of love and stepped into the arms of Jesus on August 29, 2021. What a sweet Sunday morning it was!
Susy was born on May 9, 1945, to Otis and Ona Mitchell in Quality, KY. She was blessed with many adventures roaming the hills of Kentucky with her four siblings, Wanda Slaughter, Betty Kirby of Quality, KY, Danny Mitchell of Quality, KY, and Lanny Mitchell. She has now reunited with Wanda and Lanny to roam the hills of Heaven.
At the age of 17, she married the love of her love of her life, Thurman Earl Slaughter, whom she lovingly referred to as “Tes.” They were blessed with four children, Terry Laine Slaughter, Gary Wayne Slaughter of Copperas Cove, TX, Brian Earl Slaughter, and Tonya Slaughter Martin of Mountain View, OK. She is now joyfully reunited with Terry and Brian. The Good Lord also blessed them with 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and an abundance of love from many nieces and nephews.
Susy was a devoted pastor’s wife and loved to spread the Word of God all over Kentucky and Tennessee with “Tes” during his evangelist ministry. After Thurman had a stroke, she lovingly cared for him at home for 17 years. Susy enjoyed volunteering for many years at Lakeview Nursing Home in Morgantown, KY.When they were younger, she & Thurman loved to hunt together, and she could skin a deer like no other! She especially loved to read her bible and devotionals,write in her journal, take photos, and garden. Susy loved to bake and many of her family and friends have had a few extra pounds added by her famous homemade bread and peanut butter fudge.
Susy’s funny, quirky personality touched many lives, and the world was made a little sweeter by her generous love. More than anything, this woman of faith was a force to be reckoned with when she bombarded Heaven with her prayers. She lived by her favorite verse, Ephesians 3:20, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, September 5th, at 3:00pm, at MVHA Community Center,1441 Washita Ave, Mountain View, OK 73062.
